Ellen’s Tribute to Obama

Below is Ellen’s video tribute to President Obama and the First Lady Michelle. The president wasn’t perfect, he did more for this country than he is giving credit for. Anyway, Ellen’s tribute expresses better than I can why the Obama’s are going to be missed.

Thank You, President Obama

president_barack_obama     On Nov. 8, 2008, then President-elect Obama walked onto the stage as the newly elected 44th president, making history as the first black president. From my living room, I was privileged to watch his historic night. That night he brought, not only this country but the world together, that cold night in Chicago. On that Tuesday, the American people elected hope and change and in the eight years, President Obama served our country he brought hope and change.

After eight years of war, scandals in the White House, and uncertainty
during the Bush years, President Obama gave us a future to believe in. He went to work, and with the help of Democrats passed the Affordable Care Act, insuring most Americans had health insurance – for the first time in their lives. He saved the U.S. Auto Industry, passed the Economic Stimulus, signed the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, and ordered the attack that killed Osama bin Laden.

He didn’t stop there. He supported repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” and became the first sitting president to come out in support of Same Sex Marriage. He ended the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars and negotiated the Iran Deal. All this President Obama did without the help or support of Republicans.

I thank President Obama for making our country better. In my lifetime, we will probably never have a cooler president or first family.
